About our Studio

RICHARDS STUDIO has served the greater Atlanta area since 1981. In 2000, we moved to a fully restored 1866 home in Old Historic Sharpsburg. The picturesque house provides the perfect environment for artful portraiture. From its broad porches and window-lighted camera rooms, to the building’s surrounding grounds and gardens, every aspect of the studio provides limitless visual inspiration, matchless backdrops, and extraordinary creative opportunities for portrait and wedding photography. Even the surrounding town buildings are used for backgrounds in quaint, rustic portraiture.

Studio Hours

The studio is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00am until 6:00pm and by appointment on some Saturdays. All portrait work is done by appointment. We encourage every visitor to make an appointment so that we may devote time exclusively to your business.

About our photographers

Eric Richards
Master Photographer Eric Richards holds the B.S. and M.A. degrees in Cinematography from Bob Jones University. His knowledge of the arts led to his being chosen as the exclusive photographer for Atlanta’s Woodruff Arts Center, covering the High Museum of Arts, Alliance Theater, 14th Street Playhouse, and the Atlanta Symphony. In this capacity he has photographed countless art-world executives and internationally known performers.

Also active in professional photographic associations, he holds the Master Photographer and Photographic Craftsman degrees awarded by the Professional Photographers of America. A past president of the Georgia Professional Photographers Association, he has also served with the Board of Directors of Southeastern Professional Photographers Association. A certified professional photographer himself, Eric is currently on the national certification committee for Professional Photographic Certification Commission, evaluating work submitted by professional photographers for their national certification.

Dawn Richards
Dawn, who studied art history at the University of Illinois, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and the Photographic Craftsman degree. She has worked with her husband Eric in all facets of the business since it opened. According to Eric, “Dawn is the central focus of our studio.” She is responsible for developing the artistic and stylistic aspects of the business and coordinates the studio’s customer service program.
